Breast lift (Mastopexy)

– Would you like to have upright breasts?

Breast lift or mastopexy is a surgical procedure used to lift and reshape sagging breasts. Over the years, factors such as pregnancy and gravity act on a woman's breasts. As the skin loses elasticity, breasts often lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag.

If your breasts are small or have lost volume – for example, after pregnancy – breast implants may be placed along with mastopexy to increase both firmness and size.

Dr. Dicle Sevük, offers aesthetic and artistic approaches with breast lift aesthetic applications; It provides the highest level of care and treatment, from your initial consultation to your post-operative appointments.

Step one: Inspection

At your first meeting, it is important to clearly discuss your expectations with your doctor and listen to his opinion. The desired size and shape of the breasts should be discussed.

Dr. Dicle Sevük will examine and measure your breasts and photograph them before and after surgery. Dr. Dicle Sevük will discuss variables that may affect the procedure, such as your age, the size and shape of your breasts, and the elasticity of your skin.

Dr. Dicle Sevük describes the procedure in detail, explains its risks and limitations, and will explain in detail the location of the resulting scar. He will also explain the anesthesia that will be used and the location where the surgery will be performed.

Step two: Preparation

To evaluate your breast health before surgery, breast examination and, when necessary, evaluation of breast tissue with mammography and/or ultrasound are required. If you have previously had a breast-related mammogram and/or ultrasonography, we recommend that you bring it with you to the examination. Additionally, if you smoke, you should quit smoking and tell us about the vitamins and/or medications you use regularly, if any. Your doctor will inform you which medications and/or vitamins will continue or be temporarily discontinued before the operation. Your doctor may recommend that you go on a diet before surgery.

As you prepare, you should make arrangements for someone to drive you home after surgery and assist you for a few days if necessary.

Step three: Surgery

Breast lift techniques vary; the surgery is planned to leave a scar in the shape of an inverted (T) around the areola or, rarely, extending into the sub-breast groove along with the areola. Your doctor removes excess skin, subcutaneous and breast tissue, and moves the nipple and areola to their new positions. He then brings the skin down from both sides of the breast and around the areola and sculpts the new shape of the breast. Stitches are usually placed around the areola in a vertical line extending downwards and, if necessary, in the lower crease of the breast.

Step four: Risks

Breast lift is not a simple procedure, but it is normally safe when performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. However, as with any surgery, there is always a possibility of complications, including bleeding, infection, or reaction to anesthesia. Bleeding and infection after a breast lift are rare, but can cause scars to widen. You can reduce your risks by closely following your doctor's recommendations both before and after surgery. Although rare, nipple losses may occur in smokers or diabetics. Therefore, it is recommended that you quit smoking before surgery.

Scars from mastopexy surgery can be hidden with most bras or swimsuits. Obvious, permanent scars are rare; the scar becomes very light and indistinct over time. There is a risk that scars will remain visible in smokers.
